paid almost 30,000$ to be eligible for sds.

Same here, I submitted mine on 27th November. My biometrics was already done last year for a visitor visa application. But other than that, no updates. It just says - We are processing your application.

you dont "have" to ... but its better to.
like you dont "have" to provide extra documents under sds but its better to.

Applied on 16th September thru SDS, medical was done upfront. Biometric submitted on December 3rd. Still waiting for passport request.
