Under SDS category, you will deposit C$10,000 in a GIC account, to account for cost of living and will pay the 1st year of tuition. If your program is a one-year program, these funds may be sufficient to an extent. But if your program is a 2 year program, you'd be better off attaching proof of finance to prove you have funds for the 2nd year in Canada and to pay your 2nd year tuition. It really depends on that.

Is it true that under SDS category we don't have to show the bank statements?
You don’t have to but you should provide the officers with a proof that the probability of funds for the future does exist. If you’ve provided documentation of an equivalent fund of your initial year of studies or have given the evidence that your sponsor is employed and has a sufficient enough income then you are good to go.
