Dear Sonu81 (and all seniors)

Need ur comments,,

Someone who is:
- A teacher teaching 'Accountancy' to students of 11th & 12th class in India is a Sr. Secondary Teacher (i.e. NOC 4141)
- Performing "1st 6 duties" out of the total 10 Main Duties mentioned under NOC 4131.
- 'Bookkeeping' is taught as a part of syllabus for all year to 11th class students. Now 'Bookkeeping Teacher' is a Job Title under NOC 4131.

Can this person apply under NOC 4131/ NOC 4141,,?

Thanks,,

No, the person is a high school teacher not a College or Vocational instructor.

sorry for the late reply....

I applied under NOC 4131. I am not a secodary school teacher. I am a nurse instructor at the same time a nurse by profession. but since my job is into to teaching that is why i decided to choose 4131 as my NOC code instead of 3152 (registered nurses). The visa office that is facilitating my application is Manila. I recently received my PPR and also sent my passport for stamping. Hopefully i get to have my passport back 1st week of oct.

Good luck to everybody!

Thanks maybel,
school teachers of vocational subjects are eligible to apply under 4131. there are titles such as agri. school teacher , vocational teacher etc. If you are performing the duties of 4131 then you are eligible to apply.

i am a vocational school instructor (academic).and i got acceptance from CIC.

I think the cause of this confusion is because the word 'school' is used in different ways in different countries.

as far as canada immigration is concerned, 'school teachers' are the ones who teach at primary and secondary level (up to high school).
'college and vocational instructors' or 'university professors' teach at tertiary level (ie. after high school)

in this case, maybell and amk qualify because they teach at tertiary level (for students who are doing post secondary studies). but santosh2000's case does not qualify because he teaches at high school level.

BTW my NOC category is also 4131 and I teach IT at a technical college.

In my case
CIU Sydney -2nd Week of April 2009
Sydney AOR - 1st week of June 2009
Submitted Documents - 3rd Week of July 2009
Visa office AOR - 4 days after I submitted the documents
Status changed to "IN PROCESS" in e-cas - 7th September 2009

Current Status: IN PROCESS
(Sorry I didnt keep track of the exact status)
Visa Office - Colombo, Sri Lanka

I expect to hear from them before this month ends.

Dear Windtunnel,

Thanks for ur comments. but I got confused a bit here.
What is "upto High School" ? In India it is upto 10th class.
If you read my comments again, im talking about teaching 11th & 12th classes at a Sr. Secondary School, which is "after high school"
Can u pls read my comments one more time & put your observation again?

Thanks again,

11th and 12th classes also qualify as school (or high school).

In school, you teach general subjects like physics, chemistry, accountancy etc., which in itself, will not be sufficient for a student to work as a chemist or accountant etc.
In college, students are taught a certain specific skill to enable them to obtain a job in a certain profession. Teaching aspects are much more challenging and teaching at college level requires a different skill set compared to school (high school or post secondary school as you put it).

In any case, from what I have read in this forum, there are plenty of school teachers who apply under 4131 because of this confusion. Unfortunately, immigration officials do not accept those applications.

Hi
windtunnel in schools in india there are also some subjects like Agriculture and other vocational subjects like Electrical engg. , mech engg. etc are taught and these are job oriented courses and also eligible under 4131
