Dear All

I submitted my application twice in June 2013, and Oct 2013. Both time returned as incomplete file because of the School Record for my kids. I have two kids (born in 2005, and 2007), and landed on April 2010.

I did homeschooling for both of them for years 2011/2012, and 2012/2013. Because I believed at that time either they were so young or their English language needs to be improved before going to school. This year 2013/2014, they joined on Sep 2013 a public school.

I used a lawyer for the second submission, he advised me to just mention that both start the study on Sep 2011 till today and in his cover letter explained that they joined first two years as Homeschooling (two letters from the Study Board approval attached), and this year they are in normal school (joining letter from their current school also attached).

On Dec, CIC call my lawyer asked about the School Record. We submitted their Nov status report which were not available when I submitted my file on Oct. Unfortunately, yesterday I received my file back as incomplete because they ask for 4 years school record.

I need to submit the file ASAP before any change be effective, please help me with your advices and real experience.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I called the cic yesterday, and a nice representative tried to help me. She told me that she asked her colleagues and they advised me that I need to send their transcript and time attendance for all the period including the homeschooling. I explained to her that during the homeschooling there is no time attendance and education results.

Then she said, she is not an immigration officer but tried to help.

I believe this matter faced by a lot of applicants but there is no clear guidance. For example, if I just write in the application their real schooling on Sep 2013 only, and in the cover letter explain that they were in homeschooling; is it acceptable?!!!!!! I do not know they may return back the file saying where the four years ?

You advices are required

Why do you not write on the explanation letter that the ONLY documents issued with relation to Homeschooling, according to the Board, are the attached ones?

I have a better idea:

You write on the application the education history, which in their case here, started only last year. And then you write on a letter that
"My children did not attend schools until last year. Prior to that they were homeschooled, and the approval is attached. For your info, Homeschooling does not issue/produce attendance record nor school reports."

Ok it is a good idea, but what is about the previous period i.e. 2010/2011. Shall I write na or just ignore it?

Regarding the current school, what documents they need. I have just the letter from the school says that they joined in Sep and I have their Nov Status Report.

Not definite but I would ignore the period prior to it, and the letter shall explain it further.

As for the school documents, they want the report cards. I believe this is the Nov. Status Report you have? It is good idea to include the letter too. Does the Nov Report state their attendance?

Yes in the first page in the corner, there is a small table mentions the absence and lateness.

Do you think I need a letter from the school or the Board says that homeschooling students do not have status report etc.

If you can obtain such a letter, that could be useful. However, if it is a hassle I would not bother.

Good luck!

I landed in Dec. 2010 and my son supposed to join school in Sept. 2013 when he was 6 and half years that time , I preferred a homeschooling for him at least for one year and I sent to the school board of my area informing them.. they sent me acknowledgment letter saying that my son is excused from attending the school in 2013 - 2014 ...the same letter i submitted when i sent my citizenship application in Feb. 10, 2014 which received in Feb. 13, 2014 as per UPS

I read your post, and I do not know why did they return your file especially after you wrote your explanation.
for me , I have two kids, I sent 4 years school's reports for my daughter (G5) and a letter from school for my son indicated that he is in KG, that's all

I faced the same issue. Mine also was returned twice.
I spoke with call center guy. He also told me there was lot of confusion around school record part and now they have updated details on internet (under document check list) on what exactly is required.
One of them was record cards from school.
I just re-sent the application with all records cards my daughter received in last 3 years (she is in grade 2). Keeping my fingers crossed..
Yes, also paid additional 400$ as fees..
