Hello all,

This is my first post on the forum, and I am hoping someone can assist me. I have a question about question 12 of the background/declaration form "list all addresses where you have lived..."

While I was studying, I was sometimes visiting my home country for summer or winter vacations (3-5 months at a time). Should I list my residence during this vacation time as well, or should I only list my Canadian residential addresses for the entire time period. What should I do for shorter vacation (less than one month).

Hopefully, someone can help me with this question. Thanks

I listed them all.. I went to Germany for business and I gave out that address all.. It can never hurt you when you specify all this info right?

Hi,

My suggestion would be to write down your residence address (where you stayed during summer/winter vacation) and avoid the shorter vacation addresses since those were too short. That's what I did during my application.

Hi...........Question 12 is meant for u to list your residential addresses only. Vacation is not "living". All your vacations should be listed under the "personal history" question. Now, whether you want to list all your vacations and/or business outings is your prerogative but, it is highly recommended to do so........in the personal history column......cos u dont want the VO to feel thar u r hiding something.

But, leave the Q12 only for residential address. So if u were studying in canada and went for vacation to ur home country, your residential address is the canadian address but your personal history was that during that time you went to ur home country for a vacation. Now, if you were in ur home country for 6 months then it becomes your residential address cause theoritically you cannot b vacationing for 6 months while attending college.

Thank you all for your help. I will try to list all the information I can.

On a side note, I was talking to a friend who also recently applied, and he had only listed his study period in personal history and not his work while he was studying, because he believed studying was the main activity. Is that correct? If not, what can he do to rectify this?

I do understand that study was his mainstream activity but if he did more than studying during that period its always safe to list it out . I did that . I worked a part time job in sales and I worked as a graduate assistant at the university every semester. I listed all that information. It can never hurt to add this information but missing this doesn't necessarily mean that he will get rejected. If I were him . I will redo my personal history and include all that information and add this to my file after receiving AOR. This is the safest bet!

Thanks vijay. Wouldn't sending another background declaration contradict the first one and raise more eyebrows? I don't think he meant to hide any information. Maybe he should just withdraw and apply again.

Could someone comment on possible negative impacts of sending a new background declaration form? Thanks

I don't think so that's a problem. I would write a cover letter that I missed something in the previous form and now you have listed out everything in the new one . That should do it . I understand he didn't lie about it but the form says you have to list out everything and if you don't it will delay your application. This is really small issue and I wouldn't advice him to withdraw the application for this reason
