Post Test RQ are the one which is taking longest time. Pre test RQ are being process very faster then Post test RQ.
Pre-test RQ applications are approved by the CIC and the citizenship judge within 3 months from the test, if the CIC is satisfied with the RQ response. As regards post-test RQ, I know somebody who is waiting since more than 2 years after submission of RQ.

Did you get ATIP or called CIC to ask if decision or anyone started working on your RQ? Or is still waiting in the queue?

Hi vinaypuri

I hope to get this letter soon !
I am looking forward to post here good news VERY SOON TOO ! hopefully .
my office is scarborough . I submitted documents with all evidence with good ties in canada including reasons for short days of physical presence. My case is pretty reasonable. I hope they agree with that too. When I had my interview with the officer after the test , officer said ' it's all good with your case, and it seems you explained it all. just need to wait for RQ review and they will send you a letter'. But this is the killing time because this is the time where we wait the longest !!!!!!!!

The funny thing is I heard from a girl who applied in jan/2014, got RQ'ed in MARCH , DID TEST IN JULY AND WENT TO OATH IN SEPTEMBER/2014 !!!! some people are still very lucky despite getting the RQ !!!!!!!!!

Yes, post-test RQ take a long time and seems to go in a blackhole of sorts.
I thought CIC changes the rules and they no longer require approval from judge to grant citizenship. If the officer is satisfied, officer can approve/grant citizenship without sending your application to judge.

So, now, it's just a matter of how busy (and how lazy) the officer is.

If officer isn't very busy and not lazy, officer would review your RQ stuff right away and simply make a decision. If officer is busy or lazy, well, officer will get to your file whenever officer gets to it.

Hi, to answer your question,

Well , I didn't request for ATIP .. SHOULD I ? how long does it take for them to give me a response ? what should i require specifically?
do I have to pay?

When I spoke to the agent at call centre from cic they said ' your RQ is still under review, hasn't finished processed yet.' That's what he told me. But I took the test in MAY of 2014 and I got RQ way before the test. It's taking so long.

I wonder how and why do they choose some people to give RQ BEFORE or AFTER TEST.. I DONT understand how they think that . Anyways, mine was before. I guess it's less disappointing at least.

Ask them specific question, what is the last note on your file. Is your RQ sitting and waiting for Review or someone started working on it? i.e. in my ATIP and Seibal notes - it says RQ received and waiting for Officer Review. It was updated on May 5th and it still the same.

ATIP will take about 30 days and it will tell you why you got RQ to begin with. You will get to see notes by the officer working on your case(Although some information may be hidden).

My MP has advised that Scarborough has wait time of 12 to 18 Months for RQ processing. He did not tell if they look at Post/or Pre-test RQ any differently. I plan to contact him again in probably Jan/Feb, I will ask him that question too.

I will request this ATIP.

I read from a lawyer's article that every single process goes through the Citizenship judge to review , because he needs to ' sign off' the application for approval or not ! So, only a few circumstances the judge will simply put in the list for the 'hearing' or 'simply sign off' approving the application. This is what I read. However, I read that not every case necessarily needs the hearing with the judge. But it can be a surprise.

My friend for instance, took the test in 2012 , got RQ after test and is still on the queue for hearing with citizenship judge !!!!

This RQ THING is what makes the delay. However, I see so many people who got the RQ who still had their process done pretty fast and already took the oath.

QUESTION ABOUT THE ATIP …

i am about to request this ATIP and was thinking.

Do you guys think its SAFE to request for the ATIP online?
because we need to submit documents , such as PR CARD photocopy etc...what if someone hacks into your email etc..they will see your documents?

isn't it better to do it via regular mail ?

Great News!!!
Just received the invite for the entire family to take oath of citizenship on Saturday October 18th At Scarborough.
That would be nearly 34 months from the date we sent the application.
After a lot of waiting, and investment of time and energy (especially for responding to the RQ), I feel relieved.
This forum has been a great help. Sincere thanks to everyone.

Timeline:
Applied: Late December 2011
Received by CIC: Early January 2012
RQ received and responded: November 2012
Finger prints first request: November 2012
Finger prints second request: March 2014
Test: March 17, 2014
Approved by Citizenship Judge: Late May 2014
Granted by CIC: Early June 2014
Oath Date: October 18, 2014

Thanks a lot amazing21. If the officer was satisfied at the time of the interview (after the test), then you may not be required to provide anything. Just need to bide your time.
Thanks again for kind wishes. It has been a really long journey!

Can I ask, how long did it take folks to get an RQ if they got it after the test. We appeared for our citizenship test on July 17 and still waiting for oath ceremony. I am worried that this could mean an RQ, though I don't know why would that happen. Our case is pretty straight-forward at-least as far as I understand. I called the call center today, and they do not seem to have a clue.

Congrats RQ2012. Celebrate, you waited a long time.

I am assuming your office was Scarborough all along, is that right? Also did you get a post test RQ or was a pre-test one?

Dear all,

I have a quick question. If you are a PR holder and got a letter for attending a Oath ceremony, is it possible to leave Canada for a short trip to US and come back before the Oath day. Appreciate your thoughts.

Absolutely. As long as you have valid PR and passport to re-enter.

But once you become Citizen(after oath), your PR will be taken and you will have to wait for your Canadian Passport to travel.
