Scanned acceptance letter- can be submitted?

Hello senior members,

Can I submit scanned copy of PhD acceptance letter, financial assistance letter along with visa application? University has sent the letter to India on May1st, 2012.

I am planning to submit my student visa application next week. Please advise!
Urgent! This is for JUly admission!

Yup you can but try to send original...........
 
my college posted it to me on ist may and I got it today.wait for one week u will get it
 
No. You should not send a scanned copy because they wont accept it. Its written on the website that you need an original acceptance letter from the university (Atleast thats what it says on CHC - Islamabad website).

What you can do is to ask any friend who is living in the same city and get the letter for you. He will just explain them why he is picking this letter on your behalf and they will hand him that. Once he has it, tell him to post it to you through DHL, FEDEX etc on urgent basis and it will reach you within a week or so. (You can pay him the money afterwards).

Im saying this because thats exactly what I did.
 
Yes dont know about pakistan but in India u can submit scanned copies !!! apart from Passport every other documnet could be jus a plain xerox !! u dont need to Notarize ur docs in India !!! Appeal to Pakistani brothers, rules for Pakistan and India are very diff , plz do not mix everything !!!!!

Bro I also did not get original LOA from Memorial University even they sent me LOA couple of time though regular mail but I had no luck to receive it , I think it was lost on the route ,then I applied with Scanned Copy and I got Medical Call .
I think original LOA may be required at POE. As you also in Memorial can you please help me? Please acknowledge then I will Inbox you.

WELL I DO NOT KNOW ABOUT ANY ANOTHER COUNTRY, I CAN TELL ABOUT INDIA.
YOU NEVER SUBMIT AN ORIGINAL LETTER TO THE EMBASSY, BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT RETURN YOUR DOCUMENT, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT COPY OF ALL THE DOCUMENTS EXCEPT PRE-MEDICAL FORM.
ORIGINAL LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE FROM THE UNIVERSITY IS REQUIRED AT THE PORT OF ENTRY.
 
@rsingh: CHC Islamabad returns all the documents after a decision has been made. I guess it varies from country to country.

@Khurram: .. How long has it been since they mailed the acceptance letter? ... It normally takes around 35-40 days.
 
my original letter was sent in the regular mail from univ of regina and was told it would take 4-6 weeks to arrive in Pakistan. I told them to send it again by a courier. I paid courier charges by a credit card for DHL to pick up the package from the university. I will receive it in a couple of days. Most cad universities generally send them by a courier but there are some exceptional ones, too. You had better talk to your college and pay courier charges online if there is a need.

a_a_d .. first they mail out on April 18 2012 and 2nd copy of Original LOA they sent on May 23 ,2012, but both are not received.
i asked them that send it through Currier but they refused with remarks that its not the department policy .
CHC-I processed my VISA application with Scanned Copy but Now i am worried bcoz it may be required at POE.

Thats very unfortunate. Which program have you applied to? And you must have a reference number with you. Tell me about the details and I can check it for you. At worse, I can send it to you via urgent post, i'll let you know the cost for that.

Many people have faced this issue on this forum. Most of them just print the LOA that was received via email and then apply. Never heard that there was a problem. Later on they arrange to get their LOA themselves by requesting a friend to send it personally, as others have already mentioned. I am talking about applicants only from Pakistan
