Saudi expels all Canada Deplomats - Clarification

Hi Friends,

Due to a diplomatic issue, Saudi Government has expelled all the Canada officials from the country. They have given 24 hours notice.

That means effectively both high commissions day to day things will not function in the near future.

I am working in Saudi. I am in IP1 stage. That means they have not started BG check. For BG, do CIC guys commiunicate with local authorities and embassy here????

What kind of impact there for my application? Will it cause any delay???

But appreciate if you someone can give me an answer for the real question. Will it affect the BG check timelines?

If they kick the ambassador out that means the whole Embassy is closed, right?

I called VFS Global Branch in Riyagh, it's the VO assigned for applicants residing in Saudi Arabia. They said they are still processing their application as normal and when we pass ip2 stage and get to PPR, CIC will let us know where to send our passport to. hmmm I think it should be ok?

The foreign affairs minister made a statement that the consular services in the embassy are still running. I doubt if those services are only for the citizens or everyone. And with current situation, don't know if it is going to get any better or worse.
I have to apply for SOWP. Makes me worried

No. The consular services will still be run by the deputy ambassador or the next in line. Only if the whole consulate is closed you'd have to worry. Everything will continue as normal

Is it necessarily our visa office? I thought it can be some other visa office as well.

asof latest updates.. things have become bad.. Saudi has stopped 3 major imports and stopped some flights to Toronto...
