Electricity ~ $75 for 2 bed apartment.
Gas - do you mean petrol for car ? it depends on what type of car you drive, avg. cost $ 0.9/ litre.

I found this info to be useful:

http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/city_result.jsp?country=Canada&city=Regina&displayCurrency=CAD
http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/city_result.jsp?country=Canada&city=Regina&displayCurrency=CAD

and the comparison:
http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_cities.jsp?country1=Canada&country2=Canada&city1=Regina&city2=Saskatoon&tracking=getDispatchComparison

Consumer Prices in Saskatoon are 7.52% higher than in Regina
Consumer Prices Including Rent in Saskatoon are 4.71% higher than in Regina
Rent Prices in Saskatoon are 2.87% lower than in Regina
Restaurant Prices in Saskatoon are 8.93% lower than in Regina

Hi,

I have also been nominated by Saskatchewan. I have indicated Regina as the city I plan to move to.

However, I am now confused between the two cities: REGINA versus SASKATOON. Need help with:

1. In which city jobs are better ? We are both MBAs with job experience (4-5 years) from India
2. Cost of living in both cities ?
3. Which city is convenient - As we will not have our own car, so we would depend on public transport
4. We are fond of eating-out, entertainment, outdoor activities. SO which city is better and more beautiful?

Thanks

Hi,

I have also received nomination from Saskatchewan and AOR in Feb. So, I and my spouse are hoping to move to Saskatchewan somewhere in June 2016.

My question is the same - Regina versus Saskatoon?

1. Cheaper - Rent, food, public transport? - Considering we wont have a car, etc.
2. Easily available jobs - Since we know nobody in the province, where can we easily get a job initially to have some cash inflow as quickly as possible
3. Which city s more beautiful, convenient, entertaining?

Thanks

I have plan of short landing on June-2016.I am worried that I don't have any close friend/relatives on SK.
But I have close friend in toronto.
Is it possible to use the tronto address to send my PR card?

Sorry, I would advise against it. As a PN it's probably better to tell them you dont have and address and fas one in SK to them when you can.
Probably get a short term rental till you get your PR card.
I don't think they will mail a PR card to an address the applicant is not residing and if the address is in ON as at when you're landing, it could be a problem.
My opinion!

Any update (like job market, real estate, etc) from people have recently landed or immigrants who have been living in Regina/Saskatoon? Any suggestions, things we need to prepare for, things that can be overlooked by newcomers.

thanks in advance.

I am in a similar situation. I am considering one of the two options below:

1. At landing claim that I will update the address to mail the PR Card as soon as I get one. Then update a friend's address in Toronto.

2. Use mailbox service like UPS. You can get a Canadian address (not a PO Box), and get your mail forwarded at regular intervals where ever in the world you want. (http://theupsstore.ca/services/mailboxes/)

I wonder if there will be any issues with these methods, and what others who have been in similar situations done in these cases?

Just opening this topic again.

Anyone who already landed in SK who can give advice on what we should expect from the place?

And again, which us better, Regina or Saskatoon? I particularly would like to know the construction situation?

Thanks all! :)

Saskatoon is a nice and quiet small town. There are old and new apartments, expensive and cheap ones, it depends on your taste and pocket.

It seems the easy jobs to get here are sales and customer service in retail stores. There are also part time/shift jobs available.

It is very very sunny and warm!

Regina in comparison is more of a small town and quiet place. It's a government town and the university is smaller than U of S. Less amenity and entertainment. Saskatoon has a lot more industry and businesses.

I have received CoPR and destination city mentioned Regina. Can I thought to settle in Saskatoon? is it good and legal?

Any idea?
