Saskatchewan LMO - Waiting about 6 months...

I know nobody can be sure when it comes down to LMO processing time.
Some got it in a couple of days, some got it a couple of weeks... Who knows?
So, let me just babble about it, purely because I am on the verge of going crazy.
Hopefully writing about my problem and sharing with many people will grant me at least some emotional stability.


My LMO (named LMO) was filed in August 2013. And I'm still waiting for it.
Many people here, I gather, say it's roughly about 20-25 weeks, tops. So, since this is the 25th week for me this week, it's very likely that it will drop.
But still, I have to wonder why it's still pending. Hope the Canadian government will rather reject my file, so I can finally move on and find other options.
Neither rejected nor accepted, this whole things make me absolutely go bananas.

I guess this is not normal, is it?


My employer says there was a strike of visa workers, and immigration law changes on the way and that's why they think it's delaying this much.
All the application and filing business has been taken care of by my employer, so I don't know what really is going on, and this makes me even more unsettling.


It is an oil job in Saskatchewan, by the way.

It would be really nice if anyone can console/advise/inform me with anything. Thanks for reading such a frustrating story.

you can send email to (Question @ cic.gc.ca) with the following data, and really you will get answer from them

1. Surname – Exactly as it appears on the passport or identity document
2. Given name(s) – Exactly as it appears on the passport or identity document
3. Date of birth (YYYY-MM-DD)
4. Country of birth
5. Complete address (including the postal code). If the residential address is different from the mailing address, please provide both addresses.
6. Telephone number. If you have more than one contact number, please provide them all.
7. Client ID Number
8. Online application reference number
9. Type of application (work permit, study permit or visitor record)
10. Approximate date that the application was submitted

Completely understand the annoyance and frustration of having no answer. We are in the same position, applied early Sept and still no answer!
As you say either hurry up and reject it so we can move on with our lives or process the approval.
I can't believe any "business" govt or not could run this way. Private sector businesses have performance targets etc how can the govt not have similar deadlines on the way they process.
I think at the very least they should issue employers with an absolute worst case processing date so they can tell us foreign workers that at least we will know we have an answer by a set date. Even if it's 6 months at least you know in advance the exact date you will know by.
At the moment we have no idea how long to wait and put our lives on hold for a maybe!
The changes last year have meant such an enormous increase in waiting times that I can't see how the govt thinks this helps employers with their shortages.

But after reading a couple of postings here, I realised waiting for 25 weeks or so is not that exceptional or strange. Someone got it in 28 weeks or so, so I believe I can hear from the government pretty soon. Your application was in September and mine was in August, so your case is slightly better than mine. Just breathe deeply and think that you'll have to wait for 30 weeks. According to every case and every story I have read on this forum, nobody topped that so far. 30 weeks. Within 30 weeks, we will definitely get an approval or a rejection or whatever from the government, and we can finally move on. Let us be strong.


PS But if I get rejected after waiting all these months, I think I'm gonna be absolutely livid.
