You have to show intention to live in SK while landing. After landing you can go anywhere.

It is unconstitutional to restrict movement between provinces. Although getting PNP in a province while intended to live in another maybe suspected as misrepresentation. People had got refused entry at port of entry for that before. But after landing process, if they wanted to sue you for moving out, it's almost always had to be settled in court and the government is the last one wanted to do that.

If you can stand 20 below for the whole month, and sun rises at 9am and sets by 4:30, you are good. Drive south out of Regina and be amazed by the flatness of land.

Good luck looking for jobs too while many locals got laid off in oil and mining and related business.

I guess for IT you can look at SaskTel as they are one of the largest crown corporate in Canada. If you happened to get in, you are pretty much set for life.

My family has lived in SK more than 2 year. However, we just applied SNIP in December. Now, we may a problem with EE application :'( after getting ITA.

Some hints for newcomers at Saskatoon.
+ Finding a good place to live ?
What is a good place ? ( I am not sure ). You can check at the following links

It is commendation that it is not a good idea to live in street 20,21, 22 or 33 although the renting cost here is so cheap.

+ Rent a basement ? Good or bad ?
It is said that 90% basement in Canada is illegal or not confirming. Why ? Not have enough window, complaint parking zone, etc ? Are you OK if you live in illegal basement ? Yes ! It is your right. However, you can complaint with the city if your landlord is not good with you. We will win.

+ Renting lease ?
It is vital to you. Why ? Since you will renew PR or apply citizen later? If you need a proof. It is a good one. Do not pay renting by cash. If you do not have a lease or pay renting by cash, the city or government can not project you. You do not have any right !

+ The weather ?
I come from the hot weather area, but I think that cold weather is not a big problem. In fact, my family love Saskatchewan environment.

+ Education in Saskatchewan
I think that it is a positive point to live here (I lived in , France, US and Australia).

+ Job market for IT

There are few IT companies in Saskatoon and Regina. However, many IT students graduating form UofS and UofR usually go to Toronto to find a job. There are few job opportunities for IT technician or IT customer service at SaskTel. It is noted that 50% of job in SK is hidden job (I read this information in a report one year ago). It is means that you need to know some people in a company that you want to apply. You can view here for further information

Once you are here. You can get a job. Its upto you that you want job in your occupation or willing to work on something else. There is no restriction for PR holders.

For weather - The climate is not so cold this year and may getting warm in winters time to time. But summers are really awesome.

Just keep mind positive, don't think and don't read people negative suggestions here.


BUT YES due to recent refugees entered Canada will give problem to new-coming PR holders.

forget the NOC code. It's very true generally in many technical and professional industries. Canadian employers sees foreign experiences a lot less than Canadian, and rightfully so. That's why so many programmers and professors and accountants comes in the 90s and 00s and ended up driving a taxi or open a restaurant or runs a daycare. It's simply an oversupply of labour in a particular area.

It`s not about the job market or how is the life in the city though. It talks about top nature spots and parks that you can visit, contradicting the idea that this province is boring when you compare it to Alberta or BC.

Regina is underrated. It is a very stable place to live and many people don't leave because of how easy it is to live here. Sometimes, especially for those who've been here a long time, people even feel trapped here because every other city is so "busy".
-The cost of living (although in recent years has gone up) is still very low in comparison to pretty much everywhere else in the word. It truly is a cheap place to live.
-Job opportunities extremely abundant. Very few people "struggle". New businesses go up every day. SK is a booming province, and it's primarily due to the potash mine and oil sector. About 200,000 people live here. 2.5 hours from Saskatoon, 6 hours from Calgary. Regina is surrounded by many small towns. SUPER friendly people everywhere.
-Lots of places to rent although houses have gone up in price recently.
-Transport could be better. This city seems to be built for drivers so most people drive everywhere. It takes about 20 minutes to get anywhere in the city. Parking is usually easy to find. Rush hour is non-existent and pretty much a joke compared to big cities.
-Despite what you read about high crimes, the word "crime" truly is relative. Still nothing at all like an American Ghetto. I have yet to see such crimes here in fact. Just the basics, and because of a per capita statistic, it is often exaggerated and seems worse then it actually is. That being said, the north central part of the city is what you need to avoid at night, but during the day it's kind of a joke. It's really not that bad. Often, crimes are caused by drug users, prostitutes, or teen punks breaking and entering vehicles for petty thefts. Relatively minor in my opinion.
-Very laid back city. No such thing as hussle and bussle here. In fact if you come from a bigger city you might get frustrated at the slow pace mentality here. Be warned.
-Lots of old people, religious folks and conservatives. However it's gotten ALOT better in recent years for younger people to live here. Bars and restaurants are finally catering to younger people and opening later. Reasonable amount of things to do in the city, but of course could be more, and thankfully, always growing. Lots of great restaurants here. City is filled with pubs. If you want dance bars, there aren't that many and you might get bored fast.
-Shopping could be better but it's sufficient. Many families live here. For a single person wanting variety and diversity you might get bored of this city very fast.
-Sports oriented city. If you're not a big sports fan it can get frustrating. That being said, there is definitely an artsy community here if you know where to look and hang out with the right crowds.
-Temperature is crazy variable. Winters can be down to -40C and summers up to 40C. Generally, the weather is very dry.
-If you like hiking, fishing and hunting, SK is one of the best places in the world for this. People from south come up here just for that. The fishing in particular is phenomenal if you are willing to travel a few hours north. Not uncommon for a group to catch 100 fish a day in some spots. Most people in summer hang out at their cabins and go boating or fishing. The land is flat, but there are hidden valleys and gems if you know where to look. The more north you go in SK, the more forests you will find.
-Air quality is one of the best in the world. Water is hard but most people have water softeners.
That's about it in a nutshell. If you are looking for a stable place to live with some of the amenities of bigger cities, Regina might not be a bad choice for you. Some say Saskatoon is more artsy, but I am a firm believer that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Which city is more better ?

Saskatoon or Regina

Saskatchewan is a agricultural province and only two cities Saskatoon and Regina are well populated small areas like Moose Jaw, Prince Albert and Yorkton are also considerable.

Saskatoon is more beautiful due to its landscape.
