Hello everyone,

I’ve been offline for a while as I was getting highly anxious about the process. I have good and bad news to share! SPVO has contacted us asking for additional info. Our process is for common-law and it seems I gave them not clear info when filling out forms so they are questioning our +1 year co-habitation.

We have 30 days to reply and I may ask guidance from an immigration lawyer how to address their concerns. Last year I felt brave enough to fill out all forms and assembling the process myself . I don’t want to risk make silly mistakes again.

Best and good lucky to you all !

Glad you're finally hearing from them! But I wish it was better news!

I recommend talking to an immigration consultant over a lawyer simply for the price! We spoke to both and the lawyer wanted to charge us $8000 but the consultant only charged around $1000 and she was really helpful! PM me if you want her name!

Good luck and keep us posted! :)

Hi All,

Just receive an email regarding my request for notes. They asked for another 60 days. Has anyone encountered this before?
A summary of the email:

" I wish to inform you that, in accordance with the Access to Information Act, an extension of 60 days beyond the statutory 30 day limit is necessary to process your request. This extension is required in order to undertake consultations that are necessary to comply with the request that cannot reasonably be completed within the original time limit. "

2 months just to get the notes?? :o I was hoping that in two months we could have more than that! :(

I wonder if they ever go over the 10 months limit it shows on the website.

It'll actually be more like 3 months for the notes if they use the whole extension period. I really hope they don't! That's unreasonably long IMO.

And the 10 month estimate is based on the time it takes to reach a decision for 80% of cases, presumably the other 20% take longer. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=070&top=3

And after Rio2016's posts (pg 7, 8) about the VO saying their processing times are 12 months and seeing the slow down in PPRs lately, I'm not super optimistic about the 10 months. They're saying that applications from before Dec. 7th should be processed by the end of this year though, which is just a few months longer than the 10 months for us.

We got our PR! Because we are already in Canada, we went to an Immigration Office for an "interview" and we got the official papers last Wednesday. Now we need to wait 45 days for the actual card to be mailed for us.
Thanks for the help and good luck for everyone!

Congratulations! It's nice to see some good news!

Hi all,

Good news! We saw the Decision Made status Saturday on ECAS and just received the PPR email today. Good luck to you all.

Congratulations! That's awesome news! I was starting to think the SP VO was asleep after so long without anyone receiving PPR! When did they start your background check?

I'm still waiting the notes to see exactly how they worked on my husband's application.

When I received the email requesting an extension of 60 days to get my notes, I received instructions on how to submit a complaint to the Information Commissioner (had to send a letter to Quebec with the details of my husband's application), not sure if that complaint helped SP VO to pick up my file and finalize it.

Let us know what you find in the notes when you get them! Are you already in Canada waiting for your husband?

Yes, we are both in Canada. My husband came in March to wait here with me. We are going to send his passport to Ottawa as per the email instructions.

I'm so glad I found this topic! I am really anxious about my husband's PR as well. Our application was received on October 6th, 2016 and SA approved on November 1st. They started processing my husband's application in São Paulo on November 14th and then it says "medical results received". That's all for now. I can't wait to receive his PPR!

Our timelines are very similar! Application received on October 5th, SA on November 3rd and started being processed in SP on November 14th as well! I also can't wait to get my PR, it's my biggest dream at the moment haha
