OMG!!! I got an email on May 13th from the embassy saying they git my husbands passport and that in a week they would send it out. then it would take two weeks to get to him.
My husband said he sent his passport May 5th by fedex and the embassy only got it on the 13th of may. that is screwed! Brazil is a mess!!! Wow.
Why did you use Fedex form Canada? they told me it would cost 120 dollars but the guaranteed it there in 4 days at the embassy.
I am sorry you are going through this trouble now in the end of your long journey. I wish you the best of luck!! hope you get your passport soon so that you can travel.
my laywer told me to remind my husband to double check the visa to make sure all is correct, name date of birth etc, because if something is wrong they won't let him in on our side. and then we would have to send the passport back and way another month or so for the visa to be re issued!

That's awesome that they're working on his passport already!!! I know how you're feeling about the delay, but maybe they had the envelope for a few days but only opened it on May 13th? I don't know, CIC works in mysterious ways! It could've been FedEx' fault too.
Thank you, by the way! As soon as my common-law partner called and told them we had nobody in São Paulo to pick it up if they failed the last attempt they decided to make an effort. It seemed like they didn't care if they failed 3-4 attempts as long as someone showed up to pick it up. So they simply left it at the reception on May 14th at 6:47 PM and they could've done that all along. Oh well, I guess I had overestimated UPS, considering I get a better service from any Post Office in Japan and 10 times cheaper!

But everything's working out for all of us at last! I can already look back and tell myself "that wasn't too bad, after all!"
When do you plan on booking the flight? They're getting more expensive as it gets closer to July!

My husband says as soon as he has his passport he is on the first flight out. So, I am hoping that he will nbe here in the first week of June...
Will they be sending you your passport to you in Japan or to your boyfriend in Canada?
I am getting super excited to be with my husband again. It has been to long of a seperation!!!

Do you know what his online status says? You guys should start checking for a "Decision Made" tomorrow! But don't worry if they don't update it right away, there's always a delay.
Two weeks from now, sounds surreal! Just in time to enjoy the summer.
We included a prepaid express parcel in the envelope that will go back to Matt (UPS couldn't sell us a parcel from São Paulo to Japan, oh well) and he'll mail it to me, if UPS doesn't play hockey with my package again, it won't be too terrible! ;D
We haven't been apart for that long but it has been a crazy journey too!
Is it his first time in Canada? Search for "Landing Experience" on the forum so he knows what to expect.

I checked today and it says DECISION MADE!!!

This journey has been way too long for me and the baby. We have been seperated since June 2013.

My husband came with me and the baby back to Canada in 2011. He was here but not working and left when his mom got sick. So, we had decided to switch the paper work from inland to outland and off he went to Brazil to be with his mom and wait for his visa.

I hope you get your passport soon and get back to Canada soon too.!!

It says on the page that a decison has been made, but my husband still doesn't have his passport.

I'm pretty sure it's on its way back to him, did you ask them to return it with Fedex as well? Have you tried asking them if it's been shipped yet? Since my only option was using a courier because I'm in Japan, I had to e-mail them our FeDex account number so they could express mail it to me. If they're using Correios to return your husband's passport, I'm not sure how long it would take.

Well i am happy to say that my husband finally recieved his passport yesterday June 5th.... Now I have to wait for him to book a flight!!! it has been a Year!!!! truly tried of waiting! The baby is super exicited he says everynight "mommy i can't go to sleep i have to wait for daddy!!" This is now my nightly routine with baby until my husband gets back. I hope it is just a couple weeks.
I can safely say I will never go throught this process again!! the worst experience in my Life! but now I can say BEEN THERE DONE THAT!

Also, from what I have read Sao Paulo does not update ECAS?

My son, canadian, and his soon to be wife, brazilian are going to be starting their process very soon. They are hoping to be in canada and do their application from there. What do you guys recommend, inland or outland? How long is the outland taking to process right now? Any advice would be great.

Hi, Could anyone recommend a certified translator in Canada or in Sao Paulo??

I've had some quotes from Canada but they are waaay more expensive than in Brazil where it costs $69/page.

Will a "tradução juramentada" in Brazil be sufficient for immigration, or does it need to be notorized by a government official in Brazil?
