My question is about the employers or company (of my home country) from where I would seek my reference letter for the work I have done there. Please note I have work experience as Manager recruitment. Does CIC need to see tax returns or receipts?

The work experience in your home country won't count for your CEC application, so why would you need a reference letter for it?

A perfect employment letter should include:

  • duties and responsibilities
  • start date and salary, or hourly rate
  • vacation, paid or unpaid

The above should be on a company letter head and if possible attach a business card of your supervisor.

CIC can ask for T4 /NOA

T4 and NOA are required documents. See the document checklist.

If you are applying under CEC class, you do not need any references from work performed outside of Canada. If you are applying under Federal Skilled Worker, there is a different forum for those applications.

I just started getting together all the documents that I need to go to Canada and I found specification in one of the checklists (IMM5612E Skilled Worker Checklist) Page 4 Item 12. Details everything about reference letters.

I thought it might help everyone.

Goodluck!

Hi All,
I have a question on Reference letter.
I am in process of applying P.R for Canada. I am working in 6th company in my 9 years of experiences. My first company is closed. But I am having Offer letter, Experience letter and Salary letter with proprietary signature having company name (not in letter pad).

My question is
  • 1. What letter do I need to provide from my First company instead of Reference letter?

I started work part time from Nov 2014, and full time from Dec 2015. But, my full time work permit came in Feb 19, 2015. What should I write in reference letter from employer. Shall I mention part time work too and also I was in home country twice for 1 month each (2 months), paid, working from home country full time. Is these 2 months will be included for CEC or not?

Because under EE you get more points for abroad experience, if you have it in your profile when applying CIC is asking for Reference Letters.

I didn't know it so I full my whole work history in my profile but later I could provide only a few letters so I had to remove experience without letter.

If you remove this experience in your application you score will be reduced, if still higher than minimum score for your drawn it's OK, if not your application will be rejected (not a big deal if you have a high score)

For my employment reference letter, it just states my title, hourly rate, start date and my company representatives phone number to call if they need any more information.
I assume this would be fine or should I send an updated one with roles and responsibilities?

Yeah, you'll need it.
I get for my employer three letters:
- Employment, similar to yours.
- position description
- job offer

Hi Senior members

I started working in KFC in April 2010 as a Team member/Food handler.
from dec 2011 to oct 2015 as a supervisor
from oct 2015 to present as a Assistant manager.

I will be claiming points for Supervisor and assistant manager. these both has different noc.
I have offer letter, job description and pay slips for my present role(Assistant Manager). but for supervisor's role i only got payslips.

Could some advice what can i show to prove my employment history as a supervisor.

thanks

Depends what you put in your profile. But you could safely include only your current employer, you would not get any additional points for adding other employers.
