Salary structure of canada ?

Hello all,

i wanted to ask, if asked by the employer "what is your salary expectation?" ...what could be the best answer ?

i mean is earning 5000-7000$ per month is a good money to earn for a Network Administrator in Vancouver ???
at what minimum pay can i afford my wife and a kid ??

i dont have much idea about salary structure in Canada/Vancouver...could anyone help
