Yeah my friend works for Netflix and just mentioned that to me. I was super stoked that I didn't have to leave that behind when I move.

Cdagal: I will be moving to Abbotsford, BC. *hopefully* So I will be close to a lot of skiing in Vancouver, and Whistler isn't far which I plan on spending lots of time there because I have a few friends and future in-laws living there. But it's still nothing compared to the night ski in Oregon. Skibowl is known for the biggest night ski in North America. But it will still be enjoyable, and I would definitely give up the night ski to be with my boyfriend.

I used to love watching tv on hulu.com, but you can't view their content from outside the US. BUT, You are going to be so happy to learn that you don't have to miss any of those shows you like. Just go to www.casttv.com and click on the tv/movie tab. I checked and all four of the shows you mentioned are there. Cool, eh? 8)

Oh that's an option, I'm not a fan of watching TV on the computer though. Can you stream it thru like the Xbox?
otherwise, we'll live till it comes to DVD.

Pepperoni rolls. These are a uniquely West Virginia treat.. I can make them at home, of course, but the nice greasy gas station ones are hard to replicate. It's soooo bad for you, but it tastes like home!

I don't know about the Xbox streaming, but we have a laptop hooked to our tv and use a wireless mouse and keyboard. It's great for surfing together and we can watch online content on a bigger screen.

Ah that could work. I know he can surf the web on the Xbox, so I bet it could work then.

If you have a Nintendo Wii, it streams Netflix. And I know the PS3 you can watch shows on as well. But as long as your tv has an HDMI cord, you can plug your computer/laptop into the big screen to watch your shows. My boyfriend and I do it all the time. It does make internet surfing a lot of fun too when it's on the big screen. But DVD always works too. ;)

My husband will be moving to Abbotsford as well ;) Grouse Mountain is suppossed to be really good for night skiing close by (at least for the amazing view of Vancouver). I lived in Whistler for 2 years, nothing really comes close to those mountains.

And yes Netflix streams through PS3 or Xbox. I believe that's how my husband watches it back home.

Ah, we have that as well, so we'll be fine. Thanks!

Not a problem!

And yes Whistler is an amazing place. I went there for the first time with my boyfriend that last time I got to visit him. I cannot wait to ski there. But the locals will be awesome as well.

I am from the Caribbean and I am a strong believer in the teachings of Hinduism.

What I will miss most from where I am originally from is the freshness of foods, fruits, flowers, and items that are used to perform rituals in my culture. Love, love, love the freshness of everything one gets here.

There is nothing better than getting up in the morning and picking a freshly grown fruit or vegetable grown with no fertilizer from my backyard or fresh flowers (hibiscuses, jasmines, marigolds, etc) and leaves that are lavishly abundant to perform pujas (prayer ceremonies); the smell and feel of that midnight dew wearing off into the atmosphere that reflects the morning sun's brightness into a nice sharp tropical yellow; the feel of that same morning dew on your feet as you walk bare feet on the grass or as it drips from leaves; the sound of tropical birds before dawn telling you that it's time for you to rise and shine.

Yes, the little things we take for granted give bring us back to the close memories we have of where we came from.

agree. fresh veggies and fruits and flowers with no fertilizers is the best :) i am growing some vegetables in our backyard, and some flowers that i can put into vase inside. so im not missing that. well im missing fresh fruits and berries which i dont grow (yet). what i miss most now is family and friends!

I have been back since Monday (two days) and I think I am suffering from sticker shock. The cost of food here is much more... I am afraid to see what else there is... my GPS didn't even have the new areas of town on the map and I got lost traveling in to Edmonton (something that has NEVER happened before). It is definitely an adjustment I should have been prepared for. I wish I had been more prepared for the fact that I cant watch my shows online, stuff is expensive, and different. )*sigh*

Things are much more expensive, but if you shop around and locally, you can really learn how to budget your spending, especially on groceries. My boyfriend and I have it down to a science now. It's almost like a game to us, I love cooking, and he loves my cooking, so we would spend every Sunday checking out the different local produce stores and butchers. It made shopping more fun for us, and it was great quality time. Plus good eats!

I just remembered one last thing that I'm really going to miss...PANDORA.COM :( The radio station that plays only music you like online with no commercials or interruptions. It's genius, but because of trade laws and copyrights, it costs too much money to stream the music outside of the US. Sad story.
