I got S-1 visa and my friend got Sw-1 visa. We applied on same date, same college, same course, recieved visa on same date. But why he got sw-1 visa ie study work permit visa? And can someone tell me the difference and if it will affect me in future?

Do you and your friend both have co op option as part of your program? S-1 visa is issued for programs without a co-op and SW-1 visa is issued for programs having a co-op option. The LOA has a clause which requests the VO to issue a student visa along with a closed work permit so that the applicant is authorised to work as an intern. If your program has a mandatory co-op option you should contact IRCC to modify your visa from S-1 to SW-1.

Yes, intenship is compulsary in my course. So i have to contact IRCC to change my visa from India or when i reach canada?? Or is there will be any problem in changing that visa??

When is your intake? If you have time then it is better to complete the necessary formalities in India itself but you also have the option to do so once you reach Canada. No there will not be any problem in changing your visa

Or should I have to contact my agent regarding this?? and in changing that process Is there any chances of visa cancellation also??
