Is it allowed?

1st application in Feb 2008 - status "In process" ever since.

I wish to submit a new application under NOC 29 (0211) as I guess my profile fits over there.
So can I submit another application in parallel?

If the only risk is that it can't be and even if one tries that way, the new/2nd application shall be returned......... it's Ok, not a big deal.
But if in doing so, the earlier application(2008) shall be canceled, I better not submit 2nd one.....all the waiting of 2.5 yrs will go in a waste.

Any opinion?
regards

I heard that you can run parallel applications and when either is in a position to be approved CIO will ask you which application you wish to continue with, or something like that.

This has been discussed before when the list of 38 first came around in 2008 and the conclusion was that it is not against any CIC rules to have two applications going at the same time. Some people have done this. When your one application reaches the stage of asking for medicals, you can cancel the other one.

Hello MR_rana
I am the answer to ur question.
I kept my first file in Nov. 2007 through some xxxx agent. To my bad luck new rules came in 2008. My job description fits in to one of those 38 categories.I was lazy & fully trust on my agent. In mid 2009 my agent informed me abt new rules and asked me to submit new file with extra yyyy charge. I have already paid his full fees & now again he is asking for extra money & I also have to pay processing fees again. He also made a mistake in my old file abt my job.

Now I totally disappointed. I did not know wat to do. I thought for a week and decided that its better I try myself rather than trusting this people. If agent can do the file processing why can't I not do. I am educated. Few days I have studied all the necessary information available on net & I have submitted new file myself. I have never mentioned any where abt my old file neither embassy has asked me. Earlier when i was checking my e-cas status it was showing my agents address. My second file worked fast & my medical is also over. Now in my e-cas it is giving my address & shows both files separately on my address.

I have paid RPRF & sumitted passport also. I am waiting for it to come with visa stamped on it. After that I will cancel old file. There is nothing wrong happened in my case. But still u ask other agents & people abt it.

You have been very lucky as I read your case history.

Seems as if all things clicked well which may be a matter of chance but I still feel it's betterif I can get some
official confirmation on running two parallel applications.

Not everyone can be fortunate as you've been, if 2 applications can't run at the same time.

I am still curious to know which side will finally ask for your passport to issue Visa-- CIO, Sydney or your regional CHC?
If one submits it at regional CHC where 1st application was submitted, one faces the risk of getting it detected in their system.

CIO only does preliminary checking and then sends your application to the local visa office. Your local visa office will ask for your passport for the PR stamp. There is really nothing wrong with having two applications running at the same time though.

So when your 2nd application is sent to local visa office, the place where 1st application is still "In Process", won't it create any issue?

My main concern is what could be the counteraction when CIO sends this application to local VO and local VO finds that your 1st application is still active & lying with it.

Or shall one ask local VO if I 2nd application can be submitted to CIO under new scheme, without withdrawal of 1st one?

You do not have to lie about it. You can even tell them when you apply under the new rules that you already have an application under the old rules. If your new application gets through CIO and to your local visa office, and your local visa office were to contact you and ask you to withdraw one of them, you may ask them where it states in any immigration rules that you can only have one application. They will not be able to point it out because it is not there.

Thanks all

I sent e-mail to my local VO to get some official advice on this.
Seems some of us have been lucky processing that way.

Let's see what they reply.

Thanks again

You can have parallel applications and once they local visa office has the files processing date in que they will ask you and will advise you as well which one you want to keep and withdraw along with approx processing times for both applications

Thanks Rocky...

Your reply may provide solace to may others. So there any official statement on this from CIC??
Actually nowhere it is mentioned either in the guide or immigration rules that whether one CAN or CAN'T run parallel applications.

Also I am not sure if my local VO will be willing to give any official word on this query as any reply will be a kind of official nod
to go ahead with 2nd application.

Hi
It is OK to have two (or more) applications in process. Here is a case I am aware of:

-Simplified application filed in October 2006 (Damascus Office)
-New application sent to Sydney in February 2009 (Full docs sent to Tokyo visa office)
-Visa issued at the Tokyo Office in August 2010
-Nobody asked to withdraw the old one before the visa was issued
-The old one is still in process

Hope this helps...

the main issue is what if both applications reach same VO, the 1st one already there "In process" and 2nd via CIO that approved one's eligibility under one of 29 NOCs?

In case both applications are processed at different VOs, it appears safe but situation here is a possible conflict because both are finally at same VO.

Thanks for all replies on running 2 parallel applications.

My simple concern is Schedule 1 (Background/Declaration).

While the 1st one still active, what information one may put in Schedule 1 (Background/Declaration) which asks for information if the applicant has previously applied for immigration or PR (clause No. 9 in the application)??

A simple 'No' or it's better to mention about in-process 1st application like - file no., VO details etc?

regards
