Running Finance (for Pakistanis)

I have heared that the visa application for Canadian Study permit can be applied with a running finance letter instead of a bank statement.

can anyone confirm it?
I also need to know if i have to keep the running finance for four months before applying for study permit.

Do i have to present the proof of funds available for whole course of study including total course fee and total living expenses?
