How was your experience returning to Canada with the RTD? Did you travel without PR?

Three interviews . Always asking where I went, why, if I knew that I can't go to My country of origin . Be prepared For that.

Yes. I still don't have PR.

But you weren’t stopped or anything right? Just extra questioning? Also, what other documents did you present at immigration when coming back other than your RTD?

Probably we will always be sent to secondary until becoming citizen (some people even after that).

Don't bother going to primary kiosk machines. They will print an invalid receipt with RTD, just go directly to the office desk.

First official asks the regular questions.
Where did you go, how many days, do you know someone there? Reason of the trip? Bringing money? Tabacco etc etc?

Handle you the paper with some lines with a face like they hate you, their job and the world.

Next officer in the hall will tell you to go to the secondary and turn left.

Same previous questions and additional ones:
Did you go another country besides this? Did you go alone? Is this your first travel leaving the country? Why did you go this city? Let me see your boarding pass.

Gives you the paper back stamped.

And the last officer will say if you need your luggage inspected or not.

Tip: When going to Mexico they don't automatically stamp your passport with exit stamp, go to "oficina de migraciones" and ask an exit stamp. They are before the security screening and it will make your life easier when returning Canada.

thanks

Would disagree. This creates issues for security screenings that are done way before you fly. You would be in databases as your own nationality not Canadian. You should travel with the RTD but for international security searches you are still listed under your name and citizenship. If the airline is concerned that the security screening has not been done they could technically refuse you boarding.

Just came back today from Mexico, this time from Cancun.

When departing Canada using Flair, I did the online check-in and got my seat number, before going the security area I just passed by Flair line to measure the backpack and put their purple tag. When it was time to board I was holded at the gate for about 20 min while they had to do a lot of checks and manual inputs at computer, I was behind the monitor and I could see all the screens that pops-up.

Three people there had to be involved to clear my boarding , I think they are not very familiar with this.

There are some red warning alerts when they scan the passport , and in 3 spaces they have to get a green tick to allow the passenger to board.

Mine had a red X on timatic part and X in Visa, she had to check in some website if I needed a visa considering my nationality, to board to Mexico, later after entering in some menus, and changing some options, selecting I had a visa, and mine was a Travel document, issued by Canada, she manually changed my true NATIONALITY to XXB.

When I was coming back, I used Westjet, so when I tried to do the check-in online, it didnt allow me. After I put manually the passport information, it showed an error me to conclude it in person. At the desk when I arrived at airport it was faster than Flair, but also took longer than normal.

This time I had the chance to see the tertiary area and had baggage inspection when arriving, since I declared I was bringing dairy.

Conclusion, regardless what you write at online check-in app, they will always manually change things in the computer before allowing you to board.
