http://residencequestionnaire.wordpress.com this mentioned site is purely based on speculation/experiences and has no solid evidence to back up any statement on this link.
A writ of mandamus is a legal remedy but how long does it takes AFTER that writ is submitted....You cant file a writ unless its passed their quoted time,,,,which is what 36 MONTHS so what does that lead a applicant to???? i would say 36-48 months....now there is NO EVIDENCE to back up 36-48 months but based on what MOST of the applicants are being quoted by CIC call center is up to 48 months.
But like i said things can happen tomorrow for anyone
People can yap off and act that they know it all but truly no one really knows the time line on RQ. To me it solely depends how the CIC official is felling on the day he/she deals with a applicant....I seen people who had everything perfect getting RQ....and over all the few people i know with this dreaded RQ I ONLY KNOW ONE PERSON WHO MADE IT AND IT TOOK HIM 4 YEARS.

Everyone on this forum just talks solely based on their own experiences no one here knows what exactly goes on....its purely purely based on experiences and speculation
Now based on holySinner experience: We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on December 14, 2009.
The clock starts the time application is received, so according to my mathematics tell me if i cant count its already been 43 months.

OKK, I am not pointing these things out to be hard on you or to disrespect you. I am pointing them out because when you present your opinion or speculation as absolute fact, you can freak people out based on half-truths. It's sad to unnecessarily freak people out.

We are all on the same side here. Hopefully we can help each other out as much as possible by offering our advice and experience and minimizing unnecessary pain.

Given the CIC's opacity, especially in regards to RQs, we have to find much of the information ourselves. This is a difficult process. We should do our best to minimize the difficulty.

Finally, I would like to respond to this:

This is not totally true. Many comments on this forum are based on and reference the following:

2. CIC Operational Bulletins, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob476.asp
3. CIC Operational Manuals, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/cp/cp05-eng.pdf
4. Internal CIC policies and correspondence released through ATIP (Access To Information and Privacy Act), http://residencequestionnaire.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/rq_stats_apr2013.pdf
5. Reports in the press with official CIC statements and quotes, http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2013/01/24/immigration_backlog_antifraud_measures_add_years_to_citizenship_process.html
6. the CIC website,http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/statistics/data-release/2013-Q1/index.asp
7. CIC Open Data, http://open.gc.ca/data/en/dataset/90711118-3b43-4c38-bdc0-483c94c578b0
8. Statements of CIC call centre agents (these must be taken with a grain of salt, not 100% accurate).

Comments based on speculation or personal opinion should be noted as such and not be presented as absolute truths.

This is totally true everyone speaks from their own experiences/speculations.

I have my observations so does everyone else....Just like my observation is the BIGGEST trigger of a RQ is US....anyone who migrated from there, anyone been there for a visit, anyone had a visa on their passport and never even been there....LIKE I SAID THIS IS MY OBSERVATION NO ONE HAVE TO AGREE WITH ME.

I dont get it. Are the envious and jealous that someone goes to the US - maybe implied guilt that there are not enough jobs here or that people are underemployed and have to drive taxis and work in grocery stores ?

What is their problem ?

thanks everyone for their contribution. i guess everybody understands in this forum that we all are helping each other with whatever best information we have and this is coming from the mix of our own experiences and some genuine sources. so most of things are just indicative but we can definitely draw some clues out of it.

this would be very helpful if somehow we can bring those people on board whose cases have been finalized after award of RQ. is it possible?

Agreed everyone on this forum is here to help one another...I do agree those whose application had finalized after a RQ SHOULD SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES

The best thing you can do is to get your GCMS files via an ATIP (Access to Information) request. Check the CIC website for the process. This will indicate what the status of your file is. It could be stuck in an inventory to see the judge. You could also be going through a check expiry loop - this is where the various checks e.g. security, background, immigration checks were commenced at separate points and one of them is held up so the others expire then they have to be re-done and by this time the original one has expired and so forth. If this is the case then you would win a Mandamus application with costs (with a competent lawyer).
