Sorry for what happened. I wouldn't cancel the application. I would send all the papers for the RQ. And if you don't have some of the papers required, write a letter explaining why. The worse that could happen is see a judge to make the decision. And since you have a job and a wife in Canada, the judge won't be denying you.
For the next time, even if you don't have any income, you should do your taxes.
