Recently received a letter from CIC.

Subject: APPLICATION FOR CANADIAN CITIZENSHIP- 5(1) ADULT

Dear XXXX XXXXX

In order to continue processing your application for Canadian Citizenship, we require the following documents and/or information:

Identification
-Photocopies of all pages of your passport/travel document used to enter Canada on November 1, 2010.
--
Last month I wrote a letter to CIC explaining my first entry to Canada on ATIP is incorrect. I assumed that's why CIC required above documents even though I did mail photocopies of all pages of my passport when first submittedCitizen app.

Been wondering if this letter's a residence questionnaire(RQ) or just general additional document required?

Your inputs are greatly appreciated.

All the best,
Alex

Note: my ATIP record indicates
Residence:
Entry to Canada: 2012/01/12
Became PR on: 2012/01/12
Basic Residence: 956 days
Physical Presence:906 days

Re: Residence questionnaire(RQ) or reg. additional doc?

This is probably form CIT0520 where they for specific information in order to process your application. There are threads in this forum on CIT0520, so you should probably join them as you will find valuable information.

How does one get this ATIP record on this particular data (I know how to get border crossings - but not this data)

Very interesting...usually the name of the form is at the bottom of the letter but if no specific form then it must might be a letter requesting one piece of information.

No RQ No CIT 0520 it is just a request of copies of Passport for your application.

looks like its not a RQ form. Its a general letter requesting more information. If the bottom of part of the form does not state any form number then it is a general letter

You would know it if you got an RQ. An RQ says "RESIDENCE QUESTIONNAIRE" in big letters on it and asks for a hell of a lot more documentation than passport photocopies.

You got an individualize, specific request, not a standard form. It looks most similar to the CIT 520, so I"m not sure why they didn't use that form, but in any case, it's usually a good indication to get an individualized letter rather than a form letter, since it indicates that an officer is actively processing your application and paying attention to the individual specifics of your case.

Thank for input!
Before I got this letter I sent them a letter claiming my physical presence on ATIP is incorrect based on my residency calculation. May be that's why they sent me the letter. Hopefully, there's no RQ once they start processing my application which is stuck in Sydney since August 2014.

Hi Alex,

To avoid the RQ or CIT 520, just thought you could provide the evidence support documents as much as you can to prove that you physically lived in Canada for 1095 days when you applied for your Canadian Citizenship. Especially the evidence for when you entered Canada on November 1, 2010 and any additional trips whenever you left and returned to Canada. You might consider providing all the documents for a RQ even though the CIC hasn't asked for them right now.

Good luck man!

Please note that there is no evidence that extra documents, much less "all the documents" helps to avoid RQ or CIT 520. When hundreds or thousands of applicants send reams of extra documentation, it slows things down for everyone, with no advantage (or very doubtful advantage) for anyone.

For pre-test RQs, if you meet the trigger, the CIC will send the RQ. It is not within the job or training of the CIC RQ screener to assess the relevance or accuracy of tons of unrequested documents.

Thanks Batman!
I mailed what they asked including the boardingpass I first entered Canada plus a photocopy of CBSA which accurately show all my entries.
Best,

Best,
The boarding pass and stamp (when you entered Canada on November 1, 2010) on your passport are the best evidences.

Good luck and all the best!
