Hi,

I (Canadian) have had an inland application in to sponsor my wife (American) since May. At the time of submission I paid the fees of $1,080 (sponsorship fee, principal applicant processing fee, and right of permanent residence fee). Today we received an email from IRCC suggesting an outstanding amount:
  • This letter refers to your application for permanent residence under the Spouse or Common-law Partner in Canada class. Please note, $430.00 was refunded back into your account from the fee receipt payment of $1,080.00. RPRF of $515.00 is still outstanding. A decision has been made on your Application for Permanent Residence, however; the Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) on your application is outstanding. Before you can be issued the Confirmation of Permanent Residence document, you are required to make the RPRF payment within 7 days of this letter. Information on how to pay the RPRF can be found at https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/pay.asp. To submit the receipt, please use one of the methods below or contact the Call Centre, toll free, at 1-888-242-2100. Please submit proof of RPRF payment by 2022-12-20.
We're a little confused here because we've received no refund, but also because why would there even be a refund in the amount of $430? We never received an email notifying us of a refund. I would just resend the original receipt through the webform portal, but this email makes it seem time-sensitive. Not sure if I should just resend the 515, but I also don't really want to make a double payment - but maybe better safe than sorry?

Any help appreciated here - thanks all!

I think you should definitely pay again. I made the payment at the time of application. We paid $515 again in May and sent it to them, but 2 weeks ago they contacted us again for payment. We made the payment in May, they did not receive the receipt that we made the payment or it was lost. We sent the receipt again. You can request your overpayment when the transactions are completed.
