Routine vs Non-Routine route of Processing...

hi guys,
just start this topic to try to understand what type of cases are simple and get routine application processing..
and what conditions or circumstances made the application being treated as Non-routine application processing Paths.

i will be very obliged to the very senior members if they can spare some time and take out fears of our fellow members regarding their application being treating as non-routine path..

i encourage all my fellow members to explain their situation to get some expert opinion.

one of my minor child age 6 year, passport expired since 15 month and i discover when i am filling his citizenship application and i didnt renewed it.. coz it delay the whole family applications submission. so i send the application with passport copy and explanation letter explaining that we dont have any plan to move out of country in the near future. one thing more to mention that we didnt move out of country since PR OR coming into canada. and my kid is in the school since he is eligible to be in the school. i also attached school record, vaccination record as well

what do u think his application is non-routine or any other complication. i will appreciate your comment

still i have more than 22 months to apply citizenship but conservative government made many classes in citizenship even if your application is in routine process ,,,but Non Routine process is most lower class in citizenship, applicants still will get his/her citizenship but will get more abuse and wait for years

How do you know that because of your minor child's expired passport, your application was delayed? Did you get a letter from CIC or something else? Also, whenever a person applies for citizenship and the existing passport has expired or there is a date gap between the expiry date of old passport and the new passport example, passport expired in Jan 2016 and renewed in July 2016, the person should send explanation letter to cic stating that the passport was not renewed between that time otherwise cic may ask about the passport information during that time period.
