Round ticket on an LOI????????

hi..

so im planning to head from delhi to toronto for my pg program...and apparently cus i only have an LOI and no actual stamped visa except TRV (since Sp is given at POE), my travel agent says they wont let me through at either igi or heathrow or poe since ill be entering without a stamp or other indication of my student permit on my passport AND SINCE theres the likelihood i could be sent back from POE if i dont get study permit.
so he says i should get a round ticket just to stay away from trouble incase they create issues there. WTH is he talking about iv no idea and im getting worried.

if anyone, and im assuming alot of u actually, have entered thru delhi n healthrow till toronto or any other poe in canada on the basis of the LOI, can u tell me.......

1. is anything other than trv and seperate loi there to indicate ur sp to canada? any stamp with loi or something??

2. did u use a one time ticket? according to the agent i should take a round trip and cancel return ticket once i land.

3. what kinda issues did u face having only LOI and trv? did anyone question, cause issue or other kinda prob at delhi/heathrow/poe on a one sided ticket with the LOI? isnt it common knowledge globally that the LOI and trv is the only thing when u leave for studies to canada?

4. do they ever reject ur sp and send u back from the POE? if yes, then under what cases?

all u need is LOI and TRV which is temperory resident visa(TRV). There is no other document needed. We all got TRV and LOI.There is a difference between study permit and visa. If u just had a study permit then u may not be allowed to enter canada without TRV however TRV/temperory resident visa is enough to enter canada. TRV and SP are two very different documents . TRV is for entering canada where as SP is ur legal status in canada. if u have a TRV u can get various permits at POE like visitors permit, study permit etc.

just go for one way ticket u do not need round trip unless ur returning soon.

they can do that but it is very rare and in extreme conditions like fake documents being discovered or person put on inadmissible list before entering etc not in ur case .

yeah i have a trv valid from 2012 to 2015....infact i just came back from a leisure trip to BC in august end.

1. Nilesh is right.. Ur agent is either insane.. Or wants to make more money by gettin u a return ticket when u do not need one.. So this is waht u do.. Call him in public.. Tell him u wanna do wat he says.. Then wen he comes smile at him.. Than slap him.. Hard!!! Then before he can collect his senses.. SLAP this looser again!!!!
Then walk away..

2. U r worrying too much. Ur deal is sorted. Just keep ur docs ready in ur cabin baggage n dats it. If at IGI someone has the guts to stop u.. slap them too!!!

3. Start packing n deciding wat to wear when u greet the immigration officer at POE. If u b polite n smart everything shall go smooth..
