Hello All,
My current employer in Canada is giving me an employment letter with just the salary details. It is against their policy to give us the employment letter with the roles and responsibilities. Period. I know this has been discussed umpteen times. But here's what i wanted to know.

I have the following
1. Paystubs
2. Offer Letter
3. Company policy that states the refusal to give the roles and responsibilities letter.
4. A simple declaration in plain paper signed by my supervisor that states the roles and responsibilities.
5. My supervisor is not willing to sign on a notarized or a stamp paper.

I went to a lawyer, as advised my many members in this forum to get the simple declaration notarized.

Some lawyers are unwilling to notarize it. But one lawyer agreed to notarize the same.

What the lawyer meant was this

1. He/She will notarize the document that i carry to them saying they have seen the original and hereby he/she is notarizing the copy of the declaration letter.
2. This means she is not notarizing the contents of the letter. Obviously it is not possible to notarize the contents of the letter by a lawyer.

Now the lawyer is asking me when i have the original, why do i need to notarize it?

Seems a valid question. Is this this the type of notarization required from the immigration department ?

Please help with your suggestions. I feel like i have hit a dead end here. Not sure if i will be able to get a PR without the roles letter. !!!

You need to notarize as CIC takes this as evidence that you have sworn a statement of truth in front of an officer of the court. Further having the notary seal enables you to add legal credibility to your sworn statement.

No, Immigration officers cannot notarize a document as they are the ones assessing the information in the Notarized document.

Not a dead end. I had to get a sworn Affidavit notarized as my first employer went into retirement. Lots of people have got notarized because CIC understands not every company can or will give the documents in CIC required format.

I believe details from your superior on plain paper will work. just attach his visiting card with it. No need to go for affidavit etc. You are attaching company policy also, which makes your case stronger..

Thanks JoacRy. So CIC basically wants a seal on it. But you never know if the contents of the document is true or not right. The lawyer just notarizes a copy saying he/she has seen the original. He does not notarize the credibility of the contents of the letter. That's why i was confused.

Yes. That's what the lawyer also told me. But since it is not on a letter head, a bit worried if it will add value.
