Just a caution that to get a valid OHIP card you’ll likely need to show a valid PR card. Given that you don’t meet the eligibility for OHIP you have to apply again.

My comments limited only to immigration aspect. Fair point there are other issues. Not clear to me this q is about Ontario and OHIP, but yep, can be an issue.

Strongly suggest always better to return while PR card valid.
