I want to know what is the current rule for applying for citizenship ? I lived in Canada for around 1100 days but was am out of canada for last 2 years. My PR Card is in renewal process and i want to know that whether i will be able to use the days spent in canada for my future citizenship application.

Any advice/ opinion and links will be highly appreciated

Thanks

You may want to look in to this link:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/become-eligibility.asp

Based on the link, you still lack 360 days to apply for citizenship.
And according to the new rule, you have to be physically present in Canada for at least 183 days (6 months) for each of the four calendar years.

This means that if i return to canada in October the 3 months of 2015 will not count towards the citizenship as i have been out of canada for first 9 months of 2015 is it right ?

The days will count but the year 2015 will not count. If you have already been in Canada for 3 years, I suppose that you might have landed in late 2010 and left in late 2013. If that is the case, you can definitely count the years 2011 and 2012 if you spent more than 6 months in each of those years and you probably spent more than 6 months in 2013 so you can count that year as well. You should be able to apply once you've spent 12 months because then you will have more than 6 months in 2016 as well.

However, since you need to have 4/6 years in Canada to apply, keep in mind that if you will have ended up spending more than 2 years outside Canada, you will not be able to manage that. Say if someone stays 3 years, then leaves for 2 years and a week, they would have to stay another 4 years in Canada in order to apply because you can not fit 4 into 6 years if you already have more than 2 outside.
