Right of Permanent Residence Fee Requested, how long does it take from here?

Hi guys,

Finally after all i have been through i had interview at the London High Commission in last week of July 2013 after that next week CIC requested for Right of Permanent Residence Fee which was paid instantly they also requested new police certificate and Additional Information Form which was also submitted instantly upon request. I am just wondering how long does it take after RPRF for CIC to issue the visa. My medical was done on 30 July 2012 which means its expired now but they did not requested a new medical from me.

If possible can anyone please tell me how long normally does it take after the RPRF for CIC to issue you the visa as i need to pack up stuff and close everything.

One more thing, do i still have to pay the landing fee on the airport of this was the landing fee??

It can take anywhere from 2 months to who knows how long to get your visa after the RPRF has been requested. Like it says on the CIC website, don't make any plans for moving until you have the visa in your hand.

There are no fees to be paid on landing at the airport in relation to your PR.

Hello!

I hope you got your PR card by now.

I know that they say you shouldn't make any plans. But I need to make a reservation and I need to have a rough assumption of how long it takes for me to get my PR visa in my passport after I pay for the RPRF. How long did it take for you? and Please let me know if you know any other people who went through the same procedure and you know their processing times.

this thread is from a year ago. to know for sure how long it takes is dependant on your visa office. for ottawa, it took 10 days after submitting RPRF payment for my COPR to be issued, and another 5 days for it to be delivered. I am visa exempt, so this may be different than how those requiring visas are processed. I recommend asking this question in the thread specific to your visa office.

I just got the same request to pay this fee but also I was asked to send a copy of my passport. Would I also be asked to send over hard copies of my passport and those of my dependents at a later stage (I need for travel) or that is the final step and the relevant visa will be stamped on my passport upon arrival in Canada?

what is the citizenship of the applicants? if they are visa exempt, then generally only a copy of the passport is required.

generally, visa exempt applicants only need to send a copy of the passport. you do not need to send the physical passport. follow the instructions received. once you pay the RPRF and submit your passport copy it'll probably be 3-4 weeks to get the approval paper. the London thread can confirm that timeline.

Note: someone from Singapore (which is also a visa exempt country) received a request for their physical passport. it is assumed this is because of the new ETA requirements, though this hasn't been confirmed yet. It is unknown if this is consistent throughout all visa offices, so I'd recommend checking in the London thread to see if this is a new trend because of the new ETA requirement. until that is confirmed, follow the directions received and send a copy of your passport with your payment.

Who has assumed that it is because of the eTA? I would assume it was simply a miscommunication.
