Hi there, if a family obtains a PR and citizenship but the father voluntarily renounced his PR because of his obligations in his home country (employment) but later wants to gain his PR again, which immigration strategies are viable? is there an official PR process that deals with this type of restoration?
  • Spousal sponsorship by the mother?
  • H&C?
Thank you!

- When you say "mother" do you mean his wife or his actual mother?
- What are the H&C circumstances? Employment outside of Canada is not accepted as an H&C argument.

Hi scylla,

- It's his spouse, they are still legally married but they had to be in a conjugal relationship because of his employment abroad.
- Would accompanying a family member in Canada under H&C viable?

Thanks!

- His wife should sponsor him for PR through the spousal sponsorship process.
- This is a very weak argument. Not a good option.

@sum4141s Do you mind me asking why the renunciation of the PR? Couldn't you have kept the PR status while still employed outside of Canada?
Hello, he voluntarily renounced his PR because he was living abroad most of the time for employment and wanted seamlessly enter Canada to visit Canada occasionally to see the family. He knew his PR renewal would be refused when his PR card expires, required him to attend an inquiry, and adjudicated for loss of his PR for having a short residency record. Thank you.
