Hello

I've been a permanent resident of Canada since Feb 2006. After I landed, I lived a year there and then left for studies and work abroad; i've kept a very good tally of my time in Canada and am still within the 730 day limit, though i need to go back soon or risk breaking the rules.

Now, I know they (Canada immigration) know what day you enter the country on, as you must give them the immigration form; however, i was just wondering, how do they know what day you left the country on? What if you tell them you left a week or a month back? Can they check? If I recall correctly, no one asks for any documentation (besides the airline) when you leave.

Also, does it make any difference if you enter by bus or by plane?

Thanks.

Don't take the chance of lying to immigration. I have heard they work with the US border and maybe some other countries as well. You don't know what they know so you can make it a lot worse for yourself if you lie and get caught. I've heard that the best way to avoid too much checking is arriving by car.
