Returning after overstay of 1 month, not knowing if my visa was extended

About 6 yaers ago I entered to Canada as a turist by visa, for 1 month - this is what I got.

After a month I wanted to stay more , so I found a guy (local guy) in my motel that promised me to extend my visa,I gave him my passport and after a while he told me its all ok, and I got my passport back without any extra stamp or something like that.

After one month I left Canada,(I was there 2 months while my Visa was for one month) and no one asked me anything,all past good without any questions or fine.

My questions are:
1.How can I be sure that my viza was extended correctly ?
2. In my passport I have a stamp of Canada immigration service with the date I came in ,and below by hand written "V-----and date to return" and letters ACL or ALL, what is that?
3. I want to start immigration program to Canada Is it can harm me,How can I be sure that my document are fine?

That sentence in it self sounds extremely dodgy.. Did you pay that local guy any money?

Agreed. That sounds a bit suspect. I would have thought that the only one who could apply to extend your visa would have been you. Who was this "local guy"? I would be more concerned with what happened to your passport while it was out of your possession than whether or not you overstayed in Canada.

I don't think you were granted any extension, otherwise you would get an extension of stay from together with your passport & it usually takes a few months for the process to be completed with all the required paperwork sent...

No, guys this guy is fine, believe me, about this I'm not worry,and all those conspiracies are true if only the guy was a stranger. But for reasons I do not want to elaborate I cant get in touch with him.

The main question is: How can I check this issue before starting an immigration process?
