Hi Guys,

I'm going to Canada this month and this is my first time enters the country with the PR card, ie I landed in 2008 and left the country after three weeks stay. My question is do I need to produce my original country passport with the PR card at the immigration counter ?

Thanks & regards

Yes.

Everyone needs a passport to cross most borders. Your PR card is not a passport. It only says that you reside in Canada.

You need a valid passport. It does not have to be the original passport you used to land.

Well, technically if a PR or citizen can satisfy the IO of their identity and status, they should be allowed in.

Of course, no airline will allow you to board without a passport or equivalent, but there's a good chance a PR arriving at a land border without their passport but with their PR card would be allowed into Canada, after being questioned of course!
