return of passport with visa in islamabad

its been 5 weeks my passport is in islamabad canadian embassy still i am waiting for passport.can someone tell me how long it takes

When you got the passport request letter from islamabad, did it not say how long they would keep your passport for?
I guess every embassy is different. My letter from the London embassy stated they would keep my passport for up to 6 weeks, they have had it for 4 weeks and 4 days now.

well they didn't mention how many weeks it will take and i am under spouse applicant lets see how much time they will take

No when did you send off the application, to mississauga? And when did you file get transferred to the Islamabad embassy?

in canada on 20 dec 2009 and then transfer to islamabad 20 jan 2010

Well the processing times for Islamabad are 21 months, its been 14 months for you so far. So you are still within the normal processings times.
Perhaps you could post this question in the Islamabad thread and they would be able to tell you how long the embassy had their passports.

There are several other cases (Islamabad) where people are waiting for more than two months to get their passport back with the Visa.
