Hi,

My wife and I received our PR status in September 2013 and our cards are valid till September 2018. However we have only stayed for 30 days during this period as we were working abroad.

My question is:

If we move back in April 2017, will be able to reapply for the PR card after we complete 730 days in Canada. Pls help as we are very confused regarding this and many decisions are dependent on this. We would appreciate any feedback to help our case.

thanks

You are already in non-compliance with the residency obligation requirements, therefore you may be reported on entry to Canada and end up losing your PR status.
However, if you can get in without being reported, yes, staying for 730 days will reset the clock on the RO and you can then apply for renewal of your PR card.

I entered canada in 2012 with a card from 2007 and only a few months spent in Canada. The immigration officer told me I may have problems but just gave me a pamplet and let me in. I haven't had issues since.
