Restrictions while waiting for citizenship app to process

After mailing in the application, are there any restrictions about what I cannot do while I wait for the results? Most relevant to me, is if it is okay for me to go overseas to study?

Given that I was out of country either for vacation, work, internships a lot during the five years before my application, my chances of getting RQ seems high even though I was either a full-time student or permanent full-time employee. Would being out of country when getting a RQ affect my eligibility?

Rant: Reading about RQ wait-times make me very discouraged about the citizenship process to the point of me asking myself is this all really worth it.

Any thoughts, comments, links appreciated.

You must not become inadmissible prior to the oath. This means you must retain your PR and avoid getting a criminal record. If you are RQd and your case takes 35+ months to process including seeing the Citizenship Judge and you are outside Canada that long then you get reported for breaching the residence obligation. Being reported = no oath until the issue is cleared up. If you lose PR then no oath as a prerequisite is to be a PR. Did you apply with 1095 days or more of physical presence and do you have proof of this if need be?

I applied with exactly 1096 physical days and I was actually here so no worries there. Hopefully having a full-time job during this period will make RQ less likely.

So the key message is that I must keep my PR status until I get my citizenship certificate? That I could, in theory, go out and do a masters and return within 2 years as long as I make a dash back if they call me in?
