Hi,
I initially came to Vancouver as a visitor in Nov 2019, towards the end of Mar 2020, I applied for an extension of my visitor visa which was approved in October 2020. The extension was due to expire on Jan 31st, 2021. On Jan 27th I applied for a Study Permit.
My study permit application was approved on 27th March 2021. I was asked to send in my passport, which I did and it was received. A counterfoil was issued, and I received my letter of introduction and was told to request my study permit through the web form.
I sent in the request to have the study permit mailed to me in Vancouver BC, through the web form. However, I received an email the next day stating that in order to have my study permit, I first need to have status and that my status is currently expired, and so I would need to restore it first.
I don't have a problem requesting for the restoration, however, I feel since the process takes too long, I would have to defer the start of my college from May to the next term in Sept.
My questions are:
1) Since I applied for the study permit before the expiry of my visitor extension, am I not under the implied status ?
2) After I get my passport back, and there happens to be a student visa stamped, can I just go to the Vancouver Airports Immigration center and request my study permit ? Or perhaps go to the border ?
3) What would be the fastest way to obtain my study permit so that I can start classes in May ?
