Restoration of study permit-Processing time

Hello Everyone,

I have applied for restoration of my status. I just missed my expiration date for two weeks. I submitted an online application. Is there anyone here who has recently got their student status restored? How long did it take? I know about normal processing time (which is 38 days based on CIC processing times), and I know call center agents will say restoration will add up another 16 weeks (4 months!!!), but does it really take this long? Does anyone has any other statistics, or is there anyone who can tell me how long did restoration take for them?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

1. There is no standard processing time for restoration process. It's an individual case by case processing. You can stay in Canada until a decision is made but you must not attend any school.

My agent says it is taking longer - 4months for her recent cases. Just for your reference.
So I should conclude there may be even cases which actually takes four months. It's frustrating. As enfield said I cannot attend school, and I cannot work (either on- or off-campus) as I don't have any other permit (status) right now. Is there anyway to expedite the process?

I hoped I can find people who got their status restored faster :(

There's no way to expedite - all you can do is wait. Unfortunately you're now paying the price for missing the expiration date on your student visa.

Hello there

I have also applied for restoration of my study permit on nov 1st 2012 and still waiting for it. Call centre tell me to wait till feb 25th which is 4 months since the day i applied.
I know someone who applied on Aug 6th 2012 and just got his permit renewed now on jan 25th 2013. So my friend hopes are not high.
I know how it feels to be in this country and do nothing. But i guess thats what we have to do to make up for our mistake of missing the expiry date :(

Hi Rajj,

Have you received your study permit yet?
