Hi All,
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but after a fruitless search I thought I would open a new thread.
My Post Graduate Work Permit expired in January (still within 90 days restoration period). I would like to change my status from worker to student as I have obtained admission to a college here in a program which suits my career needs. According to the online questionnaire on the CIC website I need to submit form IMM 5709. Had a few questions regarding some of the fields and the guide is a bit vague. Can someone please help me with the below?
Q3 - I am applying for one or more of the following:
Seems to me that my option should be "Restoration of temporary status as a student". However I was unsure as the option could also be read as my current temporary status was that of a student and I intend to restore it (i.e. study permit expired and am now restoring it). That does not describe my situation. Can anyone confirm what the correct answer should be?
Q1 (Section: Details of intended study in Canada)
I have been admitted into a Post Graduate Certificate Program at Centennial College should my level of study be "College - Certificate"? However, I wish to make clear to the Visa Officer that my degree is a Post Graduate Certificate and ONLY available to those who have already completed undergraduate studies at a university or a 3 year degree at a college.
Q6 (Section: Details of intended study in Canada)
I would like to work part time off campus while studying. I understand that all students can now work part time (up to 20 hours per week) while studying full time. In that case should I select No I am not applying for a work permit or should I request an open work permit?
Q2C (Section: Background Information)
This one I am completely stumped about. Anyone who is in Canada has of course applied to enter or remain in Canada. Does the question only apply to specific types of applications or any and all?
Any and all advice would be very much appreciated! If these topics were covered elsewhere in the forum, please provide a link if possible!!
