Restoration of status after PGWP refusal

Hey everyone! I graduated from my Masters program on August 30 and applied for PGWP on August 31. I had a valid study permit till November 30. Received a refusal in October saying that my study permit had expired in March. According to the GCMS notes, the officer believed I had graduated in December 2020 instead of August 2021 and hence, I was marked out of status in March. I re-applied in November with more documents to prove that I was a student till August 2021.

Technically, I submitted my second application before my study permit was supposed to expire (before November 30). But since the officer had marked me out of status in March 2021, do I need to apply for restoration? If yes, do I need to pay the $200 restoration fee or $350 ($200 + $150 for new study permit)?

When did your program end? What do you mean by graduated? Your exams ended soon before? You defended you thesis in summer 2021? The graduation ceremony was in August?

I defended my thesis in summer 2021 and hence, completed my program. The final thesis was submitted and the final grade was confirmed on August 30. Graduation ceremony was later on in October.

Will depend on whether you prove that you graduated in August. Proof that you defended your thesis in summer 2021 should be enough so no restoration needed. You should have asked for reconsideration versus applying for a new PGWP but too late now

Thank you for the response! Back in November when I contacted the IRCC, the call centre agent said that I should apply for restoration. After that call, I paid the $200 for restoration and sent a webform to request restoration. During a recent call, I was told that I need not apply for it. So, should I send a webform to request the officer to ignore the restoration request or will it automatically be ignored? If I applied for restoration and it was not required, can it have a negative effect on my application?

You can ask for a refund for the restoration since it isn't needed since your study permit was still valid when you reapplied for PGWP.
