You can wait till you receive a response from CPC-Vegreville, but you can't work.

Out of curiousity, what would happen if one were to work? How would this be tracked?

my fiance has been waiting for 8 months total already getting positive lmo for the third application and waiting for work permit for 5 months now. he hasn't been working since then and he's been calling immigration for update and so far they weren't asking him to leave the country. for now he is still waiting but the agency whose doing all the paper work just called him that the vegreville transferred the application to calgary cic office and will call him. hopefully nothing bad would happen. if anybody experience about the same situation and share what could happen i will be greatly appreciate it.

You can work but it would be illegal and will only affect you adversely when caught. If you're working for a company, there would be payroll and deductions, deductions which I am assuming gets reported and remitted to CRA.

So you're saying that initially there wouldn't be a problem however it would come back to bite you in the ass at some stage? Surely there's a million ways of getting around that, ie: cash jobs etc. The more I study the immigration process, the more holes I see in it..

Thanks for you're advice though, appreciate it!

Yes you can accept cash but make sure that your job is not in the public eye. Will try to post the link to one posted by a member who got caught working without work permit.

I won't be breaking any laws, haha. Just curious about this forum to see all the unique scenarios that people end up it. No two cases are ever the same!!

If you can find that link, I'd like to give it a read if possible. Thanks again.

One of the posts:

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/admissibility-hearing-case-t68082.0.html;msg688091#msg688091

Just click on the member's name and look at his recent posts.

Yup, you're so right. No two cases are the same. There would be similarities between cases but mitigating circumstances are always different.

They can't cancel your application but they don't have to employ you if they can't wait.
