So... I applied for CEC this month and a post has grabbed my attention that this guy working as a manager or a supervisor got rejected by his VO since he did not believe his previous experience qualifies.

The more shocking news to me is that he did not even ask the applicant for more document or called his employer..
Now some will say on the NOC description there are employment requirement but apparently they are not allowed to be used during the assessment by a VO.
Myself have applied as a restaurant manager with previous work experience as a food service supervisor for 3 months.
My employer has written in the reference letter that she hired me as a manager since she is almost 80 and is hard to manage the restaurant 7 days a week, she needed someone who she can trust and a person to be in charge when she is not at the restaurant including closing for the day, depositing money.

Now I know its unusual for a person to work as a a manger with only 3 months of supervising but I have been volunteering at the restaurant and I have strong knowledge in a restaurant setting since my grandma, aunt, and also my mom was a chef/cook.

So do you think it would help if I send a cover letter explaining like the background I have or would it be best if I sit back and relax?! :(

Would the person's application not have been rejected because Food Service Supervisors no longer qualify as of October last year?

Food Service Supervisors
is no longer being accepted for CEC as of October 2013

I applied as a restaurant manager with one year experience.
But I only had 3 months of previous work experience as food service supervisor.

The guy I was talking about applied long time ago before they no longer accepted food service supervisor.
My concern is that I only have 3 months of work experience before getting hired as restaurant manager and working for a year so I'm afraid that VO might not accept it as valid experience although they should..

what program you took in school? what did you study?

Are you on a working permit???

I've been in Canada for a long time as a student, almost 10 years.
After high school I've got an open work permit since I was a dependent child of a skilled worker.

So your parents are not permanent residents of canada? If they are skilled workers they should have been permanents as well as you being a family member. If you have sufficient work experience as required on the noc you've applied for and you have proofs to support them, then there's nothing to worry about.

And give yourself 2 to 3 mos to get you AoR or VO email if they find you not elligible. It is too early for you to stress out yourself buddy.

No my parent's aren't permanent residents, they were on temporary work permit.
As my work experience I have three months of food service supervisor..
But I really do work as manager, and I believe I am over qualified!
I'm just worried the VO might refuse it without even asking me for additional documents or phone calls. :(

Did the guy you're referring to receive AOR or not? Are you worried about not getting AOR?

My job title is more to do with Food Service Supervisor, but my duties match NOC Code 0631 and I got AOR last month.

I think receiving AOR won't be hard as the reference letter matches NOC job description.
It's the part where VO assess the work experience.
