I applied Canadian citizenship last Feb and I got the Residence Questionnaire. I have some questions.
1. I can't remember all about day trip to USA, just remember few dates. Then What should I do to prove it? Should I visit to CSBA?

2. I have some house rental agreement now, I never pay the rental fee(Only my husband pays it) .If I submit these documents(rental agreements), is it useful to prove my residence?

3. As I heard, If I get this RQ, probably, it will take over 4 years to get a citizenship. (I applied it with child). So, somebody says cancel it and re-apply next time,it's better.
I wonder if I cancel it now, and then I apply it again with my husband and my son, is it better?

4. I don't have enough time to gathering all documents, but I don't know which way is the best. Pls let me know where can I get an advice my situation.

Pls share your ideas~!

I put together this website to organize resources for RQ recipients:
http://residencequestionnaire.wordpress.com/resources-for-rq-recipients/resources-for-rq-recipients/
Please check it out for advice.

Regarding #3: If you cancel and reapply, it is almost certain that you will receive an RQ the second time. See risk factor A3: http://residencequestionnaire.wordpress.com/rq-risk-indicators/

Good luck.

The MP will help by making enquiries if processing times are exceeded (which for RQs appears to be 36 months) but they can't ask CIC to overlook any issues that your application raised. In actual fact most threads I see on this and other forums usually refer to the MP not making a significant difference...I believe its because most people expect the MP to expedite their application.

This (lack of expediting) makes sense because it would unfairly create a 2 tier system with MP backed applicants and non MP backed applicants. MPs are also careful not to be seen to be trying to influence CIC...after all they may back an application that actually has no merit...fraud exists in the system and is the root cause of the RQ regime.

Your profile fits the risk criteria for RQ issuance...submit documentation that is active indicia of your physical presence in Canada e.g. employment/ volunteer letter. Subjective documents e.g. credit card statements or those not in your name will not carry much weight sorry.

You can contact your MP. Even though you are not yet a citizen, you are a constituent of your MP and they have a responsibility to listen to your concerns.

Msafiri is right that they cannot expedite your application. But according to my MP (Trudeau): "Although I cannot accelerate the processing of files, I can keep you informed on the status of your request. Furthermore, when necessary, I can help facilitate communications with CIC."

Additionally, our MPs need to know that they are missing out of hundreds or thousands of potential voters in their own ridings because of these unreasonable processing delays. They need to know that there is frustration and pushback from those of us stuck in queue for years. There is nothing to be lost by communicating with our MPs. There is no risk. On the other hand, there is the benefit of possibly receiving more info on our files as well as the benefits of having someone in power know about the consequences of the ballooning backlog and all the votes that they may be missing out on because of it.

MPs may be able to enquire with CIC once processing times exceed 23 months. The 36 month quote is not a public, published, official CIC timeframe or service standard for RQ cases, so I don't believe it requires deference. It is an internal CIC quote based on the processing times of cases which have not yet been processed (i.e. bull*censored word*). See here for more info: immigration.ca/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=12828&title=processing-times-for-rqd-apps-as-of-apr-2013

There is nothing to be lost by expressing your frustration and concerns to your MP before 23 months, at 23 months or after 23 months.
Be honest, clear and concise.
