Happy New Year

I am scheduled to have citizenship test & interview in Scarborough this month. I have below questions.

If I traveled abroad one more time after I applied for citizenship, should I include it in record of overseas trip when CIC officer ask question about overseas trip? Normally, how does CIC officer ask for this type of question in citizenship interview?

Your kind reply would be highly appreciated.

Best regards.

The agent checks the stamps and asks questions about any exit/entry stamp if it's not mentioned in the residence calculator. Do not give any information unless they ask for it.

Any absences after the date you signed the application or before the 4 years immediately before that date is not relevant to your case or to your application, if they do ask, just tell them the truth. It really is that easy unless there is something that you are trying to hide.

After applying any holiday trip with family (like as summer or winter holidays) or 1-2 short trips (2 weeks or so) does not creates any doubts to the officer. My wife and son had interview in Dec and I was present in the interview room. After apply there was a holiday trip for 2 month and officer was just going thru the passport and stamps and did ask about the trip while my wife replied it was family vacation while schools were closed.. She said that's fine and given oath letter on spot..

So, you never know what will have in the officer's mind when will check the passport and stamps in details and what are the questions will ask about the travels after applying.. It all depends on their mood. They may ask or may not but largely if any travel that make sense to them may not go after that..

- Should you be concerned IF you have NO-thing to hide? NO

- Should you tell CIC IF/WHEN asked about the travel stamps in your passports that (obviously) appear AFTER filing your application? YES

- Is it really that simple? YES

Hi kcsong01,

I believe you want ideas on how to share info that was indirectly or directly requested, without appearing as though you are lying ?

Generally, its never good to volunteer info which was not requested, equally in such cases its never good to lie (less problems).

Now, In the instance of a trip that was taken after an application was submitted, I would see no reason why you could not include that last one; since you already have accumulated enough days of residency to get to this point. the officer will determine whether or not that information is relevant to your case. with so many applicants taking trips after posting applications it most likely will not be a problem.

I can understand your anxiety in this matter , But try and relax and ace that test :)

Hope this helps ,

Best of luck
