I am currently preparing my citizenship application and am doing the calculation for how long I have spent in the country. I have 1,120 days of which 2 years plus as a PR so should be good there. I want to get the application in before the new law passes. The question I have is that my time fore PR consists of a working / holiday permit, two months on a visitor visa while waiting for my PNP nomination and the a visa under the BC PNP. My understanding is that time spent in Canada prior to being a PR counts as half, however does this extend to time on a regular visitor visa?

It appears so but I'd like to be sure...

"each day you lived in Canada before you became a permanent resident counts as half a day;"

Also any idea ho to adress this on the application form, I plan on putting "Not Working" and "In Canada on a visitor visa" down for section 6F Work and Education history.

As far as I understand this policy only applies if you were here as a student, a temporary worker or as a spouse/common law partner

I hope not. I do not believe CIC distinguishes between a visitor, student or worker (non-PR days). My wife is eligible for Citizenship by end of March and I am including her days as a visitor. No where on CIC it says, visitors days are not counted towards Citizenship... I think they are same as a worker, student (non-PR)...

Am I missing anything here?

Well it asks to explain time and I'm sure they will have access to visa info anyway

I always thought that you had to have some residency status in Canada and visitor status did not count. Hopefully someone can confirm this

Question # 4 of the link below provides you answer for this question. *Sigh.
