Hi Everyone,

I am completing my application tonight and need clarification on the following Please :)

1. On the online residence calculator, I went to visit my relatives in Trinidad from 18 December 2012 to 7 January 2013. During that time, we island hopped to St. Lucia for a few days.
How do I represent this on the online calculator? Should I state Start and End Date with destination Trinidad and then in the Reason column indicate that I also went to St. Lucia for a few days OR should I state the St. Lucia trip as a separate line? You see then the calculation will be wrong because it would take away another day from my calculation because it would assume I came from Canada to St. Lucia? Plus then I would have to add another line since I went back to Trinidad from my St. Lucia trip.

2. Proof of english language - I became a permanent resident through a family class application (my spouse). Do I still have to show proof of english language? Will a photocopy of my certificates be fine or do they need to be notarized?

Thank you!!!!!!

1. Don't put the St Lucia trip as a separate line. Just one line, left Canada on Dec 18, returned on Jan 7th, and put "Visiting family in Trinidad, with a short trip to St Lucia for holiday" as the reason. Only the dates that you left and returned to Canada matter.

2. You'll need to submit some kind of evidence that you speak English or French. If you have certificates from your PR application, they might be enough, depending on your score. The list of acceptable documents is here:

cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/language.asp

It should be pretty straightforward to figure out what you can use.
