Rescheduled oath ceremony

Hi all, my wife’s oath ceremony Dec 13, 2021 conflicted with travel, so she followed the instruction to email immediately that she could not attend, assuming she’d be informed of the next scheduled date. She’s heard nothing since (2months later) for rescheduling. Any advice? Thanks!

Respond to the same scheduling email to check status. I suspect those who reschedule are sent to the back of the queue and would come up in due time, but there are people who have been waiting 6-8 months on DM without an oath, so difficult to say what the real situation is.

Given the current chaos and backlog, rescheduling oath is probably not a great idea for anyone at this time.

Thanks for comment and hope you’re wrong (i mean that nicely) that it won’t be a back-of-line situation. For us of course the deed has been done.

It could be back in the queue, or not. As always, with IRCC there is not pattern because there is no well-defined steps and actions for each scenario. The officer decides what to do. I know someone who rescheduled their oath Jan 2021, and still waiting, another rescheduled their oath Sept. 2021 and got rescheduled in Dec 2021. Make sure to update them with your wife presence in Canada with a proof like return tickets or boarding passes .. etc

Thanks CaBeaver. When you say “update them”, who/how exactly? We have written several emails and get boiler plate replies “we are busy with backlog”. We can see nowhere on her account page to address a specific question to a specific person or to add in new info. Maybe we’re just missing something?

Raise a webform also and attach the proofs with your explanation

It happened to us. No update upon our return for a month even after sending them couple of emails. Then went to the alternate route (true though), saying, I have a travel plan in June this year and therefore want to have my passport before that. Received oath invitation within a week.

You could also write to the office handling your file.

As per the update on 28 July 2022 on my Citizenship Application Tracker, my Citizenship Oath is due on 8th Aug 2022.It mentions that I will receive the instructions on my email regarding the ceremony.
But I have not received any instructions regarding the process, on my email.

Pls advise urgently, as 8th Aug 2022 is not far.

This is normal. You will receive an email a few days before the oath.

Postponed oath ceremony today during video oath appointment due to unavoidable travel plans, hopefully will be back in line and not at the very back.

Any idea why it took Aug 2 2022 to January 17 2023 to reschedule it? Did you provide travel plans when you were back?
