Requirement of Transit Visa while flying to Canada with Immigrant Visa

Hi,

I am a Bangladeshi passport holder who is planning to fly Canada for the first time with the immigrant visa (not PR card).

On my way to Toronto, I plan to make a short stay (4-5 Days) inside Italy (Venice) as I wish to visit my relatives there.

Usually Schengen Visa is a must for a Bangladeshi passport holders to get any access inside Europe, but I wanted to know if the requirements are same for Canada immigrant visa holders as well? If not, what are the formalities?

You won't be transiting. You'll actually be visiting Italy for several days.

Yes - you will need a Schengen Visa.

True, this is going to be a visit purpose landing, hence, opting for Schengen visa makes sense.
