Required to file taxes

Hi,

I am about to submit my citizenship application, I am required to file 2017 taxes but haven't filed yet since the deadline if Feb 28. In the form, should I check required to file checkbox and check the not files checkbox? Is that fine? Do I need to write an explanation letter?

Also, I saw a job posting in Govt of Canada website that matched my skill set very well and requires Canadian citizenship, however its deadline is in 4 months. Should I apply for urgent processing and attach the job posting? Or would that be ignored by them?

Yes, tick the required to file and not filed checkbox. They know nobody has filed 2017 taxes yet.

I suspect they would ignore that. Urgent processing for a job opening isn't really urgent. Now if you were offered the job and needed citizenship to follow through with the offer, that MIGHT help you.

I am about to apply for my Canadian Citizenship too and I have done 2015 and 2016 income taxes, but I need to show that I did at least three years. For 2014, my husband put my as a dependent on his taxes, would this be ok or I do have to wait until I have my 2016 taxes done? Thank you for your answers.

I’m no English speaker, but to my educated understanding and what I ticked was I was not required to file taxes because I voluntarily filed it.
If revenue canada required you to file taxes, maybe it means your in some hindrance with them which is why the tax people harangued you to file and pay it.

How can i update the information provided to CIC for citizenship file ?
i have misunderstood the "Required to File" question and now i want to update this information for my file.

i have not checked the boxes under "Required to file" for 2013,2014,2015 and 2016 because i thought that i already filed the tax so i don't required to file tax. BUT in real i have to check all the boxes under "Required to file" except 2017....

FYI: I have already got the file number.
